Sonoma State University has been selected as one of the 2025 Most Promising Places to Work in Student Affairs by ACPA-College Student Educators International (ACPA) and the magazine/website Diverse: Issues in Higher Education.

Students from AIMS College Prep High School (AIMS HS) in Oakland will be assured spots at Sonoma State thanks to a guaranteed admissions agreement between their school’s board and the university.

Working in partnership with KRCB/California Public Media and The Press Democrat, SSU professor Richard Hertz and graduate students in the master’s in Public Administration program designed and ran a virtual post-election poll.

Sonoma State Professor Lynn Cominsky has been awarded the distinction of Fellow by Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society, for her outstanding contributions to space education.

In October, 62 fourth-graders from Monte Vista Elementary School in Rohnert Park visited SSU to learn how scientists carry out their investigations from hosts Dr. Lisa Patrick Bentley and graduate student Dawson Bell, both in the Department of Biology.
